Phoenix Project - Formula 3

A project for a kit for Formula 3 cars (Dallara 316 and 319) from 2016-2024. The developed kit will allow the rework of the Dallara chassis by installing another V6 engine developed by AER (Advanced Engine Research), obtaining a car with the same technical characteristics as the official FIA F3 championship car.

The Championship

Time Attack is a championship in which drivers compete to achieve the best lap time, using a production-based car that is modified to varying degrees, depending on the category in which they intend to participate.

With the TAI Project, DMZ Engineering aims to compete in the “EXTREME TB” category of the 2025 Italian championship with a BMW E46 base car, which is the top category where high-performance cars race, and in the PRO 3000 category with a 500 Abarth base car with an official chassis. The goal is to also compete in European and global categories in the coming years.

DMZ TAI BMW E46

  • Base: BMW E46
  • Engine: Derived from Audi EA825 4.0l
  • Weight: 1050 Kg
  • Weight Distribution: 48/52
  • Max Lateral G: ≥2
  • Max Longitudinal G: ≥3
  • Supercharger: Twin Garrett Turbochargers
  • Estimated Maximum Power: 1000 hp
  • Estimated Maximum Torque: 1100 Nm
  • Engine Management: EFI Efr18

The car will be equipped with a 4-liter engine derived from the Audi EA825 with twin Garrett superchargers to achieve a maximum power of around 1000 hp and an estimated torque of 1100 Nm. The intake manifold will incorporate an efficient air-to-water intercooler to maintain high air density despite the high supercharging pressures required. To cope with high lateral accelerations, a dry sump lubrication system will be used to ensure a constant and correct supply of lubricant within the engine at every operating regime. The engine’s electronic management will be monitored by an EFI Efr18 ECU, making it possible to use sophisticated power control strategies in various grip conditions on different circuits.

DMZ TAI ABARTH 500

  • Base: Abarth 500 Trofeo
  • Engine: 1.400 cc – 9,000 rpm
  • Suspensions: Double Wishbones Front and Rear
  • Weight: 900 Kg
  • Max Lateral G: 2
  • Max Longitudinal G: 3
  • Engine: Derived from Fiat 1.4 T-JET
  • Supercharger: IHI IS38 Turbocharger by EVOLUTION TURBO
  • Estimated Maximum Power: from 400 to 450 hp
  • Fuel: PANTA Racing fuel
  • Engine Management: Ecu Master
  • Transmission: 6-speed Sequential

The car will be equipped with an engine derived from the Fiat T-Jet, which will be supercharged using an IHI IS38 Turbocharger to achieve a maximum power between 400 and 450 hp, depending on the selected mapping. The intake manifold used will be the new prototype made by DMZ Engineering using MJF technology. An air-to-water intercooler will be used to maintain high intake air density. The engine operation will be managed by an Ecumaster PMU16, making it possible to use sophisticated power control strategies in various grip conditions on different circuits. The car will feature a 6-speed sequential transmission with a final drive and an electro-pneumatic paddle shift system.
